There are two George whittaker listed see the pictures for digital only images of the Medal award cards from Mercantile Marine.
Seems to have had some sort of tape stuck to Medal at some point that needs carefully cleaning off by purchaser.
The widnes recipient was a master during 1915 of ss lunesdale & ss Maggie during 1915 .
The other was a 17 year old mess room steward aged 18 of ss oakfield & ss monitoria ( a collier sunk by mine in North Sea 21st October 1915).
