Hugh was born c1895 at chorley,Lancashire.

1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at 19 stone Street,  Bolton,  lancs . A cotton piecer by occupation.

He joined the 9th service battalion loyal north lancs regt in February 1916 .

He was badly wounded in his right leg on 1st day of the German spring offensive on 21st March 1918 and was eventually discharged 26th May 1920 with 50% disablement due to wounds.

His address now being 124 longe Moor Road,  Bolton,  Lancashire.

He died in Bolton in March 1947 and is buried at tongue cemetery.
