A rather interesting lot a swing mounted group of 4 unnamed as issued.

1939 star , France and Germany star,  Defence and War Medals.

Essex regiment capbadge .

Soldier s release book all related to 6019886 intelligence cpl w a p gilbey of the 5th battalion Essex regiment.

Born 13th September 1917 at westham in Essex.

1939 a butchers assistant living at 5 Alma terrace in west ham.

Called up 18th January 1940 .

He served in 5th battalion Essex regiment he was given a glowing reference by the colonel Commanding the battalion and his service was exemplary.

He was discharged at blechede in Germany 18th Jan 1946 .

He died in barking & Dagenham,  Essex July 1991 .

The medals are not on war time ribbon but due to living into the 1990s he probably had them remounted for wear .
