An interesting group of medals and ephemera .
1939 star , Defence and War Medals unnamed as issued and mounted for wear .
Soldiers Service and Paybook named to 835019 bdr Mowbray c .
Charles Mowbray was born 7th October 1914 a motor driver by occupation.
He enlisted at Birmingham 2nd February 1934 .
He served at home 2nd feb 1934 until 19th September 1939 .
France with British expeditionary force from 20th September 1939 until 26th May 1940 .
Whist in France it seems he served briefly attached to Royal army Ordnance Corps in no 3 a f w from 30th Jan 40 until 15th February 1940 and then 26th Feb until 8th March 40 with 8th as regt , 23rdaa battery ra .
Then once evacuated from dunkirk he joined 61st field regt then 53rd then 4th .
It looks like he must have been discharged during late 1943 as there’s a Bromwich aeroplane factory letter regrading him for a pay rise .
Also a letter from ministry of labour showing he was an inspector at vickers Armstrong at Kidderminster at time he was living at 51 Chester Rd in Kidderminster.
Interesting bits to a regular soldier who became a factory inspector.
