Correctly named *138 Pte E Blackwell MGC

Ernest was born to William and Emily in August 1880 in Newton Heath.

In 1911, we find him working as a weaver in a cotton mill and living at 197 Bower St Newton Heath.

He served with the Machine Gun Corps with the service number 6138, please see pictures as an edge knock has taken away the 6.

He later served as 12943 with the Rifle Brigade. He survived the war and became a reservist in May 1919.

He had married Eliza Whittle in 1918.

We see him working as a heavy motor haulage contractor in 1939 and living at 17 Oldham Road, Manchester.

Ernest died in 1944 and is buried at Philips Park Cemetery, Manchester.

He is entitled to a Pair.

The medal has an original silk ribbon.
