Correctly named SS117785 RW Fitzgibbon STO1 RN
Born in Islington in 1889, Robert William Fitzgibbon. We find him in 1911 living at 86 Longfellow Road Essex. He was a packer when he enlisted into the Royal Navy in 1917.
He served through WWI aboard HMS Commonwealth and HMS Royal Arthur. He continued to serve post war and earned his Long Service Good Conduct medal in 1936. He later transferred to the Royal Fleet Reserve.
He married Maud Lillian Hinderer in 1925.
In 1939, we find him at the same address and now working as a paper hanger/painter.
Robert died in 1975.
