Correctly named 144163 Gnr SJ Verlander RA

Sidney Joseph Verlander was born in 1888. He married Daisy Millar in 1910.

He was sent to France in February 1918. We find him serving with the 3rd Seige Battery in 1918 when we see a wound report dated for May 1918.

Others records show him to be with 452nd Company, S Battery in April 1918 when he recieved gunshot wounds to both legs (thighs) and ended up having his right leg amputated.

He was later discharged as unfit for service and recieved the Silver War Badge numbered B210833 (not present).

His address at time of discharge is 72 Warlock Road, Harrow Road, Paddington, London. An occupation of grocery manager is given for him.

In 1921 he is seen to be a desk cashier at Lipton Ltd, Grocers & Provisions Merchants.

In 1939, he is living at 1 Park Terrace, Southend on Sea, he is noted as war disabled grovery manager. Now is seen to be married to Annie.

Sidney died in 1958.
