Correctly named T19745 Dvr R Lungley ASC

Rueben Edward Lungley was born in 1877, His father was James and his mother Susannah.

They all hailed from the Bradfield Heath area and were living there in the latter part of the 1800s.

Rueben enlisted into the ASC in 1902 and appears to have been UK based for the entirety of his service until that is, the outbreak of WWI.

In 1911, we find him living at Heath Road, Bradfield, Manningtree, Essex. We see him working as a butchers assistant come slaughterer.

He married Georgine Jane Garnham in 1911.

He was sent overseas to France in August 1914 earning himself a 1914 Star Trio, Note the 14 Star is missing.

He was not entitled to the clasp and rose so was most likely utilised in the set up of supplies, away from the front lines.

He was discharged/pensioned in September 1915. He also hels the service number

We see in 1939 he is living at Nether Hall Cottage. He is noted as being an invalid.

Rueben died in 1951.

We were lucky during our research to find a picture of Rueben in later life.

Both medals have original silk ribbons.
