George Joseph Edwards was born to Joseph and Emma in Birmingham in 1887.

We see George in 1911 living at 163 Cooksey Road in Birmingham and working as a labourer.

He had married Lily Clarke in 1908.

He attested to the 1st Bn, Irish Guards in December 1915. He was to head to France in April 1918. The 1st Bn Irish Guards were to become a part of the 1st Guards Division.

He would most likely have seen action at the German Spring Offensive (Operation Michael March to July 1918) as well as the Final Advance to Picardy (October to November 1918).

Post war, we see George in 1939 living at 6 Broadgates Road in Birmingham and working as a council labourer.

George died in 1957.

The medal has a modern replacement ribbon.
