Wilfred Irwin Spencer was born to Joseph and Mary in 1899 in Burton Le Wolds near Loughborough, Leicester.

We find the family in 1911 living there. He attested to service with the Lincolnshire Regiment in November 1916. He served with the 2/5th, 6th and 12th Battalions overseas in France from March 1918. He was discharged with heart trouble in 1919 but now he serving with the 17th Company Royal Army Medical Corps with the service number 145942.

In 1921, we find him back living with his parents at 5 Forest Road, Bulwell, Nottingham and working as a labourer for the Brush Electrical Engineering Works.

He married Elsie Marlow in 1928.

In 1939 we find Wilfred living at 67 Melton Road, Barrow Upon Soar, Loughborough. He is now working as an artificial stone finisher.

Wilfred died in 1980 and is buried at Barrow Upon Soar Cemetery.

He is entitled to a pair.
