Correctly named 6143 Pte G Whiteside Ir Gds

George was born in Belfast in 1893 to David and Mary McKee and lived at 39 Maryville Street, Belfast.

He is entitled to a 1915 Star Trio and served in France .

We find a wound report dated October 1915 and it states he was with the 2nd Bn.

Another wound report which is dated for October 1916 shows he is now with the 1st Bn, No1 Company Guards Division. This report states gunshot wounds and his Pension Card shows these to be to his left wrist, back and lung.

He is again wounded and the report is dated January 1918.

He was discharged as a Lance Corporal in April 1919.

The medal has a modern replacement ribbon.

We were lucky enough to receive a photo of George online from another customer, thankyou.
