Charlie was born in 1891 in Four Wents, Crambrook, Kent. In 1911, we find him living at 10 Rock Road, Sittingbourne, his aunty and uncles address. Here he is seen to be working as a dryers boy for a paper manufacturers.
He was working as a machinist when he went to enlist in Crowborough in November 1915. He enlisted into the 5th Canadian Engineers.
He eventually went to France in March 1917. By March 1918, he is with the 14th Canadian Engineers back in England but heads back to France after a few weeks.
In 1921, we see him living at Riseden Quarter, Goudhurst in Kent and again working for a paper makers. He also marries Louie O’Manger in 1921.
In 1939, he is now seen at Stream Farm in Sedlescombe, Battle.
Charlie died in 1963.
