Sadly missing his British War Medal.

William was born in Southbank, Yorkshire in 1882 although some records have it as 1884 as well.

He was born to John and Elizabeth.

He first enlisted for service in 1908 and served with the 1st Durham RGA (TF). His address then is noted as 28 Abbingdon Street in Sunderland.

He married Alice Jane White in 1909.

He was sent to France in January 1916 and served overseas until March 1916.

He also held the serviced number S4-250532 with the Army Service Corps.

He was released in February 1919 due to DAH and also he suffered with a hernia.

In 1921, we find him working as a school superintendant and living at living at 52 Queens Crescent in Sunderland.

He died in 1939 and we find his family then living at 10 Bainbridge holme Road in Sunderland.
