George henry Herbert hobbs born c1887 at Windsor, Berkshire.

A house porter by occupation he enlisted in the Cheshire Regiment 15th January 1908 aged 20 years .

12th February 1915 until 1st April 1915 in hospital with rheumatism and sprained ankle .

Served with 13th service battalion ( wirral pals ) and suffered gunshot wound hip on 7th July 1916 during their attack on orvillers where the battalion suffered heavy casualties.

Noted as wounded also 30th August 1916 ,14th August 1918 and 24th August 1918 .

21st October 1916 suffered flu .

Also later in war served as 44426 a coy 7th ksli & 28429.

He married another soldiers widow in 1918 ( Mrs whale ).

Discharged 26th February 1918 .

His papers survive online and make an interesting read .
