William Arthur green was born c1881 at Islington.

A general labourer by occupation he enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers 22nd August 1899.

He served in South Africa during the 2nd Anglo Boer War being awarded a queens south Africa medal with 4 clasps.

Hevwas discharged by purchase from Royal fusiliers.

Re attested into 2nd battalion hli 28th August 1905 .

William served in India December 1905 until December 1912 just over 7 years .

He was awarded a 3rd class army school certificate 12th December 1907 .

April 1909 passed ambulance class .

5th june 1909 obtained a nursing certificate.

October 1909 awarded a 2nd good conduct badge .

He entered France 14th August 1914 and was discharged sick after 16 days in France.
