He enlisted 7th August 1907 .

Bertie entered France 15th January 1915 .

Given his service in 2nd then 8th East Yorks .

Then 7th then 6th York and Lancaster Regiments

And the fact he was wounded on 3rd July 1916 its possible at the time he was in Salonkia with East yorks  fighting the Bulgarians or was with the 7th y and l fighting on the somme both are possible .

He was discharged due to wounds with a silver war badge on 4th April 1919 .
