Louis was born in 1893 to Robert and Jane in Castle Kennedy, Wigtownshire, Scotland.
In 1911, we find him living at 80 Burton Road in Brixton as a boarder and working as a civil service clerk.
He enlisted to serve in November 1914.Â
From December 1914 until August 1915, he was posted to Malta.
From there, as a part of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, 2nd Bn (Royal Fusiliers) London Regiment, he found himself in Gallipoli from October 1915 and then evacuated to Egypt.
A wound report is found for him dated the 25th of June 1915. He received a gunshot wound to the foot and had to have his toe amputated.Â
He served in France from June 1916 and another wound report is evident, dated, 4/6/1916. He received a gunshot wound to the foot and had to have his toe amputated.Â
He did remain in France and was eventually discharged from the Labour Company (369 Employment Company & 612 Company) in May 1919. His new service number was 228986.
He had married Beatrice Emma Wilson in 1917.
In 1921, living at 53, Tachbrook Street, St George’s Hanover Square and St Margaret and St John, London, we see him working as a cashiers clerk for Evans Sons Lenfer & Well Ltd Wholesale Druggists.
He died in 1964.
