John William Fordey was born in 1894 to Mary and father unkown, in Rochdale, Lancashire.
We find the family living at 7 Lister Place, Rochdale in 1911 and John is working as an apprentice Wheelwright.
He enlisted for service in 1914 and served firstly with the 25th Reserve Park ASC where he gained rapid promotion.
He went overseas to France in September 1915 earning his 1915 Star Trio. An address found for him during his service is not
We find him in 1921 living at at the same address and working as a wheelwright for Albert Holden Wheelwright & Smith.
He married Mary Brunt in 1928.
We find them in 1939 living at 79 Reform Street, Rochdale. Now John is working as a heavy vehicle builder.
John died in 1966.
