Oliver was born in Horton, Windsor in 1879.
He attested for service on the 1st of January 1897 while working at that time as a blacksmith.
He married Edith Elsie Hamlett in 1898.
He served for 5 years and 135 days, heading to South Africa in September 1899.
The QSA has the clasps Modder River, Paardeberg, Johannesburg and Belmont. All of which are confirmed on his service papers.
He was sent to Theatre3 (Egypt) in WWI on the 7th of March 1915.
Two addresses we have found for him are 4 Windmill Cottages, Warsop nr Mansfield and 72 Howard Road, Mansfield.
He was discharged medically from service on 1-1-1918 due to myalgia and a cataract.
He was awarded the Silver War Badge numbered 297528. (not present)
He was discharged from the 61st Reserve Battery.
Both medals have original silk ribbons.
