David Albert scott was born at Sheerness in Kent on 31st May 1864 .

He joined the Royal Navy as ships steward ( boy ) 7th July 1879 aged 15 joining hms Royal Adelaide.

He served during the egypt campaign on board hms thalia.

He went on to serve  on board many famous ships during the following years inc impregnable, Black Prince,  London etc .

Receiving his pension in 1902

He was obviously recalled  serving on board hms hannibal when war broke out it served as a guard ship at Scapa flow then being replaced by hms Royal Arthur which David also served on a ships steward .

He was promoted to victualler cpo during the war serving on hms ambitious and was demobilised in October 1919  astaggering 40 years after joining as a boy sailor.
