Correctly named TEM 3055778 Gnr W Gay RA
WWII medals unnamed as issued.
William Gay was born in June 1919 and first enlisted for service with the 5th Royal Scots but was immediately transferred into the 4/5thBn Kings own Scottish Borderers.
He was an apprentice mechanic at this time.
By November 1938, he had transferred into the 52nd Searchlight Regiment of the Royal Artillery.
September 1943 we see him with B Battery of the 2nd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment of the RA.
He married Ella Young in 1943.
Being based in the UK, he first went overseas to the North West Europe theatre in October 1944. By now he was with the 206th Regiment RA but was sent overseas with the 5thBn Kings Own Scottish Borderers.
He was discharged from service in June 1959.
