Correctly named 4270 Pte W Pickup 1st LN Lancs
A nice ghost dated example of the QSA.
Warwick was born to Richard and Betty in Blackburn on the 3rd of September 1873.
In 1891 we find him living at 43 Henrietta Street in Blackburn and working as a cotton weaver.
He enlisted into the 1st Bn Loyal North Lancashire Regiment in October 1893 have purchased his discharge from the 4th Bn North Lancashire Regiment in May of the same year.
He served in South Africa from January 1894 until September 1902.
The clasps, Transvaal, Orange Free State, Modder River and Belmont are confirmed in his service records.
He is also entitled to the Kings South Africa Medal with both date clasps.
We see he was later to serve with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers during WWI.
He enlisted in July 1915 and was transferred into the 23rd Battalion which only saw home service, for this he should be entitled to a BWM.
His service number in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers were 21418 & 97353.
He was discharged in 1918 as no longer physically fit for service, the reason noted as deformed feet.
We know he was widowed and his first wife was called Jane.
He remarried in 1922 to Rachel Ann Pearce.
Warwick is believed to have died in 1927.
