Awarded to Z498 EGW Geeves 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade.

Born in 1894 to Edward and Emma, Edward George William Geeves is seen working as a general porter in 1911 and living at 116 Beresford Road, Camberwell.

He volunteered for service in September 1914.

He was sent overseas to France in January 1915 earning his 1915 Star Trio.

He fought at Ploegsteert Wood and Ypres where he was wounded. After his recovery he returned to duty where he was again wounded and later discharged as unfit in July 1916.

He received a gunshot wounding to his left elbow and to his neck.

He also served a time with the 5th Bn Rifle Brigade.

He married Edith Florence Morphew in 1918.

Edward died in 1977.
