Correctly named F14134 CE Stokes AC1 RNAS

Charles Edward Stokes was born in Stepney in 1887 to William and Alice. We see he married Florence Pride in 1915 and was working as a jewellers assistant. He enlisted in 1916 when he was living at 54 Carlton Avenue, Maida Vale.

He was based at HMS Daedalus, the seaplane base on Lee on Solent in Portsmouth.

When he transferred into the Royal Air Force, his service number was changed to 214134.

Charles died in 1954.

The medal is his sole entitlement and comes with a very long original silk ribbon.

Boxed WWII group:

Douglas Charles Stokes, son of Charles and Florence. Douglas was born in 1916.

In 1939, we see Douglas at home with his parents at 3 Plympton Road, Queens Park, Willesden. Middlesex and working as a costing controller. We see Charles is still a jewellers assistant.

Douglas enlisted with the service number 274048.

We see in 1943, he is in Junes London Gazette as becoming a 2nd Lieutenant of the Royal Army Pay Corps and in October 1944, a full Lieutenant.

Douglas died in 1980.

The medals have original silk ribbons.

The Pair is his full entitlement and come with a dog-tag as well as medal award slip confirming the award of 2 medals and transmittal box.
