Joined the Royal Flying Corps 10th July 1916 , served France 18th September 1916 to 21st January 1919 a telephonist in 1st Balloon Wing, 1st Balloon company ,20th Balloon section ,responsible for maintaining communications between the Balloon officer and the ground and between the section and hq ( usually artillery).
He was discharged 30th April 1920.
