Benjamin was born 21st September 1894 at Bromley, London.

1911 living at 20 tilia Road, lower Clapton, Hackney, London a cabinet maker by occupation.

He joined the Chatham division of royal marine light infantry 31st January 1916 .

He was admitted to King George hospital in March 1917 and invalided with a swb .
