Enlisting ‘underage’ in October 1914.
He first enlisted into the 4th then 2/4th Battalion of the ‘Buffs’ Royal East Kent Regiment.
He served in France from the 31st of August 1918 and 3 days prior, transferred to the 18th (London Irish Rifles) London Regiment.
In December 1916, he went to serve with the Suffolk Regiment with new service number 242266 and served with the 2/5th, 1/4th and 7th Battalions until June of 1918.
In June 1918, he transferred to the Cambridgeshire Regiment for a month.
In July 1918 he moved to the Northamptonshire Regiment with a new service number 205974. He served with the 5th (Pioneer) Battalion.
In September of 1918 he was wounded with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder.
He was awarded a Silver War Badge (not present) numbered B251357.
He was discharged aged 20 in 1919.
