Albert Dobson Spink was born to Joh and Annie in Derby in 1890.
We see the family living at 95 Douglas Road in Derby in 1911 where we see Albert working as a clerk.
He enlisted into the Royal Navy in late 1915 and is entitled to just the WWI Pair. He served as a writer/clerk for the whole of his service. He transferred to the Royal Navy Air Service in March 1916 and then to the Royal Air Force upon its inception in April 1918.
He served the latter part of his service at HMS Daedalus.
Royal Naval Air Station Lee-on-Solent (HMS Daedalus) was one of the primary shore airfields of the Fleet Air Arm. First established as a seaplane base in 1917 during the First World War, it later became the main training establishment and administrative centre of the Fleet Air Arm. And: On 1 April 1918, the RNAS combined with the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) to form the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Lee-on-Solent Naval Seaplane Training School became an RAF station.
He was discharged from the RAF in May 1918 with bad vision and suffering neurasthenia. His RAF service number was 314381. His address on discharge is noted as 17 Olivier Street, Derby.
We see he married Florence Evelyn Robinson in 1918.
In 1921, we see Albert has returned to work as a clerk, working for the railways now living at 48 St Thomas Road, Derby.
In 1939, still a railway clerk, we find him living at the same address.
Albert died in 1971.
