Correctly named 12347 Pte CA Kearney C Gds

Charles Arthur Kearney was born in Leyton, Essex in 1887 to Charles and Alice.

We find him in 1911 as a commercial traveller (grocery) and living with his family at 171 High Road, Essex.

He enlisted into the 4th Bn Coldstream Guards in September 1914 and we now he is working as a farmer and living at 56 Francis Road.

He gets posted overseas with the 1st Bn and is with these in June 1915 when he received gunshot wounds to the face and shoulder. His wounds were classed as slight and he stayed with his Battalion.

In 1938, we find him living at 31 Algiers Road in Loughton, Chigwell, Essex. He served with the ARP as an Aid Post orderly so is most likely entitled to a Defence Medal also.
