Correctly named R41704 Pte HC Wells KRRC

Harold Charles Wells was born in Alford in 1898 to Samuel and Alice.

We find in 1911, he is living at Oak Cottage, Baschurch, Salop.

He served with the 12th (Service) battalion and a wound report dated 12/9/1918 tells of a GSW to left shoulder. After some further research, we learn this to be a bomb explosion which dislocated his shoulder.

He was discharged in September 1918 earning his WWI pair.

He married Winifred Baker in 1928 and by 1939, he was working as a motor mechanic and living at Mount View, Walford Heath, Baschurch.

Harold died in 1974 and an address for him at that time is given as 33 Corndon Crescent, Shrewsbury.

The medal has an original silk ribbon.
