Correctly named 40696 Pte G Parry R D Fus
George was born to George and Sarah in February 1898.
In 1911, we find the family living at 16 Wensleydale, Queens Road in Harpury. George is senn to be working as an errand boy for a grocers.
He served with the 10th Dublin Fusiliers before transferring to the 2nd Bn Royal Irish Regiment.
With the 2nd Bn he was captured on the 27th ofMarch 1918 whilst serving at Cappy Bray.
At 10am on the 27th of March, the Germans launched an attack in which they became close enough to use their trencch mortars. Allied forces were ordered to withdraw.

George is entitled to a Pair.
After his repatriation, he was to marry Elizabeth Knowles in 1920.
We find them in 1939 living at 4 Leyland Street, Manchester and George is working as a packer of cotton goods.
George died in 1956.
The medal has an original silk ribbon.
