Born 3rd November 1896 at 5 Watson crescent, Edinburgh.
Employed by Morrison and sons plumbers of Randolph Place ,Edinburgh.
He enlisted aged into the Scots greys but was serving with the 8th service battalion the Royal Highlanders ( black watch) when he proceeded to France 2nd October 1915.
Sadly just 19 days later on 21st October 1915 the 8th were serving I trench 37 when it was heavily shelled by minenwerfers, clearing up the troops were caught in a direct shell blast with 13 killed inc John glendinning charmers and wounding 5 more .
He is buried at railway dugouts Burial ground ,transport farm ,Belgium.
His parents lived 16 lochrin place ,Edinburgh.
He was killed in action aged just 19 years old .
