Correctly named 17949 Pte E Jones Shrops LI
Edmund was born in Madeley, Shropshire in 1879 and was working as a wagoner when he enlisted into the 3Bn KSLI. He had married Julia Emma Jones in 1900.
He was sent overseas to France 18/9/1915 with the 5th Bn.
We find a wound report for him dated 30/11/1915 and from reports see he suffered a gunshot wound to his leg whilst serving in Ypres. Records conflict as one says left leg, another says right leg.
He was released from hospital on Christmas Eve 1915 and transferred to the Royal Defence Corps with the service number 5203. With these, he served on both the 5th & 6th Observer Companies.
