Correctly named 4354 Pte W Evans Grenadier Guards
Walter was born in 1871 to John and Mary Evans. We find him living with his family in 1871 at 3 High Street, Taibach. His father John was a butcher.
He attested in 1893 aged 22, whilst working as a labourer in the tinplate works.
He headed to South Africa in May 1900 and stayed until July 1902.
He is entitled to the Queens South Africa Medal with the clasps Belfast, Cape Colony and Orange Free State.
