Correctly named 16721 Pte AE James R War R

Alfred Edward was born in 1889. We find an address for him noted as 16 Haverstock Road, Fairfield, Liverpool. He also lived in West Derby, Liverpool. His father was Edward James.

He enlisted into the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in 1915 when he was now living in Birmingham and working as a teacher in the Deaf & Dumb Institute, Birmingham. This is also where he lived.

He served with the 1st Bn as well as the 3/10th Bn.
He was with the 3/10th Bn South west of Ypres in May 1918 when he was shot in the left leg. A wound that required the amputation of the leg from the thigh.

He was invalided November 1918 and awarded the Silver War Badge numbered B52967 (not present).

Both medals have original silk ribbons.
