Joseph clay was born 15th September 1866 at St Mary’s in Nottingham.
He enlisted in the 3rd grenadier guards on 4th September 1883 giving his age as 18 years 1 month and stating service with 4th Battalion Derbyshire regiment and hos occupation as labouer .
He served in egypt campaign.
In 1891 census he is living at 2 barlows yard ,St Mary’s, Nottingham a plumbers labourer 1st class army reserve .
1911 a shopkeeper living at 33 finch Street , Nottingham.
He sadly died 19th January 1912 of pulmonary tb and diabetic coma .
Comes with printed out service paper.
Egypt has the usual eks as pictured .
