Born to William and Emma in 1898, Frederick William was working as a farm labourer/milk carrier when he enlisted in September 1916.

We find an address for that time as ‘Millhouse’ Stanbridge, Rockford, Essex.

He served with the 5th Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment prior to being compulsary transferred to the Royal Engineers.

He was sent overseas in January 1917 to the Egyptian Theatre.

He served as a motorcycle rider with the signal section.

He has a new service for the RE, 368433.

He also was with the 27th training Reseve Battalion with the new service number TR/9/9971.

After his discharge, he married Amy Fennell in 1922.

In 1939, we find him working as a bricklayer, still in Essex.

He is entitled to a Pair.

He died in 1988.

The medal has an original silk ribbon.
