George was born in Tredegar, Monmouth in 1881 to William Benjamin Jacob  and Sarah Ann Maggs.

He served with the 3rd Garrison Royal Welsh Fusiliers and went to France in January 1917. He was later compulsory transferred in August 1918 to the 27th Company Labour Corps and service number changed to 569276.

We find an early address for him noted as 2 Gaen Street, Barry, Cardiff and he is still living there in 1939 when he is seen to be working for Great Western Railways.

The pair is his full entitlement.
