Correctly named Pair 275643 WO CL II JA Ewing A& SH

John Aitken Ewing was born in St Ninians, Stirlingshire to John and Janet in September 1888.

We find the family in 1901 living at 3 Main Street, St Ninians, Stirling.

A pre war soldier with a very low service number (17) he earned his Territorial Force Efficiency Medal pre 1910.

We see he served, still with the Argylls and had risen to the rank of WO CL II

He at some point transferred to the Machine Gun Corps and retained his rank. He was given a new service number 149285.

He married Ann Jane McAlpine in 1915.

We see him disembodied in 1919 but in 1923, he re-enlists into the Royal Tank Corps with the service number 397890. His papers list his trade as an ordnance worker.

There is reference to the Lovat Scouts on his Tank Regiment papers.

John died in 1963.

All medals are swing mounted on a clasp with original silk ribbons as worn presumably by John.
