Edward Israel Fidgeon was born in 1884 in Rayleigh, Essex, the son of Herbert and Amalia. His papers state he enlisted in 1902 and was a grocer by calling.

He married Kate Annie Murray in 1906. We find a 1901 census which has him listed as a member of the crew of HMS Agincourt.

He transferred to the RFR in 1910.

In 1939, we find him living at 95 Calcutta Road, Tilbury Essex with his family and he is then working as a printers plate layer as well as his son.

Edward died in 1961.
