Correctly named 14369 Pte D Seville C Gds

Duke was born in 1892 and an address we find for him is 195 Market Street, Bacup, Lancashire.

A pre-war brewer, he enlisted into the Coldstream Guards on the 30th of December 1914.

He was sent overseas to France in August 1915 earning himself the 15 Star Trio. This ties in with the landings of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Battalions to France.

Duke then would have become a part of the 1st Guards Division.

We see wound reports for Duke dated 26/9/1916 (most likely the Somme) and 11/9/1917 (most likely Cambrai).

Pension reports tell us Duke had multiple wounds, gunshot wounds, to his Lung, liver, chest and right side. Very possible to be the result of a shrapnel explosion.

He was discharged due to being physically unfit for duty and awarded a Silver War Badge numbered 357041 (not included).

The date of his discharge is noted as the 20th of March 1918.

The medal has an original silk ribbon.
