Malcolm Tindal Porter was born in November 1882 in Umballa, India to Atwell and Edith Porter.
We first find Malcolm in the London Gazzette becoming a 2nd Lt from cadet in 1901.
An employee of the East India Company, his service is well recorded.
From 1901 until 1908 he was appointed assistant engineer of the state railway.
From 1908 to 1912 he was its executive engineer.
1912 until 1914 he was the superintendent of works for the Lower Burma Railways.
1914 until 1919 he is away for military service.
In 1923 he becomes the superintendent engineer for the Burma-Siam Railways.
In 1925 he becomes the deputy chief engineer for NW Railways.
He retired in 1934.
From his MIC we see he entered France in July 1915.
He was a Major with the 1st Corps of Signals, Royal Engineers.
We also see he became Lieutenant of the 18th Signal Company Royal Engineers.
He was awarded The Military Cross in the New Years Honours and is dated 29/12/1916 in the London Gazette.
He was awarded the Mention in Dispatches which was Gazetted 17/12/1918.
After military service he returned to India with an address of Executive Engineer, NW Railways, Lahore, India.
He married Beryl Mabel Barbour Pirrie in 1920.
H e was re-employed into the Indian Army from July 1940.
Malcolm died in Bangor, Northern Ireland in 1966.All medals have original silk ribbons and are mounted on a clasp as worn. They also come
in a private purchased storage case.
