Plaque correctly named Duncan Macintyre Grant Ferguson.
Served with the 3rd Reserve Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers then once overseas, he was attached to the 2nd Battalion.
Buried at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, Calais. Son of Lily M. and the late Rev. John Grant Ferguson, of 41, Polwarth Terrace, Edinburgh.
Duncan was the eldest son of the late Reverend John Grant Ferguson, Innerleithen.
Born in May 1894, he applied for a commission in August 1914 at the start of the hostilities.
He was gazetted Lieutenant in May 1915 and was sent overseas to France that same month.
He had only been in the trenches for a fortnight at Hill 60 when he was wounded and died from his wounds on the 14th of May 1915.
The Kings Own Scottish Borderers played a significant role in the capture of Hill 60 in May 1915.
