The empire moose was a 6301 ton British steam ship originally completed as the Colin h livingstone for the US shipping board in October 1920 , 1925 renamed oakwood for same owner , 1933 sold to lykes bros ss Co inc of new Orleans, 1940 give to Britain and renamed empire moose by ministry of war transport .
at 04.27 hours on 29th August 1940 the empire moose a straggler from convoy oa 204 was hit in stern by a torpedo from u100 and sank 130 miles west northwest of bloody foreland, the master and 35 crew landed at killybegs, Co donegal , Ireland.
